Director of Accounting

Rosie Herren, CPA/MBA, is a financial professional with 25+ years of broad industry and Big 4 public accounting experience with a proven ability to conceptualize solutions to diverse business challenges. She joins the Book + Street team from Signature Staff Resources, where she was working as a Senior Finance Consultant for the Bravo Brio Restaurant Group. There she acted as an interim senior finance professional for the restaurant group, covering duties such as property, leasing, sales/use tax and treasury functions within the Finance department. 

Prior to that, she performed high level profitability analysis for a $45 million consolidated advertising and web platform organization (4 multi-state companies), The Shipyard, where her duties included analyzing operational cash activity, performing P&L budgeting and forecasting and preparation of the annual consolidated financials for the external audit. She was an integral player in conversion of legacy financial systems to a NetSuite ERP system including design, testing and debugging of data processes/controls and set up of project tracking/reporting for diverse product lines.

Rosie has served as a Senior Corporate Reporting Financial Analyst/International Finance Manager at Battelle, where she oversaw and performed financial reporting and accounting functions for several foreign and domestic subsidiaries including cash management, forecasting, consolidations, budgeting, project cost analysis, foreign audit support and foreign currency translation. While there, she also managed financial reporting for BattelleEducation, an educational nonprofit, authoring revenue recognition policies and reports; working with contract administration, procurement and billing stakeholders; and leveraging Oracle knowledge to ensure GAAP compliance with nonprofit reporting requirements.

Rosie played a key role in the development of a solid accounting infrastructure for a startup medical device company, Ventaira Pharmaceuticals, creating best practices-based processes and systems for financial reporting, payroll administration, cash management, tax reporting, billing, project cost accounting, and managing procurement/payables processing. While there, she was responsible for designing and implementing the processes, systems, policies, and controls critical to sound financial analysis and reporting; deployed an integrated financial and project cost system and project cost reporting strategy.

Rosie brings a broad functional financial background including International, Corporate and Operational finance with a strong technical background in general accounting, auditing, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, research and conclusion on U.S. GAAP accounting matters, process improvement and software/systems conversions – a consistent record of success and securing positive outcomes.. 

Her specialties are GAAP Financial Reporting, Auditing, Consolidations, Foreign Financial Reporting, SOX, Nonprofit Reporting, Project Accounting, Financials Systems Design/ Implementation and Staff Development. 

Her hobbies and pastimes include dancing, live music, movies, meeting friends for dinner, singing in the car and making her friends and family laugh. She also loves audiobooks, by authors life Anne Rice, Michael Crichton and Dan Brown. She is a huge fan of Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon too and believes laughter is highly underrated.

Rosie holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University, an MBA from Ohio University, and is a Certified Public Accountant (Ohio).
